Can we build it?!

Brayden's favorite show right now is "Bob the Builder". He was THRILLED to find Brett downstairs putting together a crib that Dad & Mom had gotten from him. His favorite line right now is "YES WE CAN!!!". (Bob the Builder always says, "Can we build it?" and his crew yells back, "Yes we can!")

Brayden spent a good amount of time "helping" Brett, all while singing the Bob the Builder song and chanting, "Can we fix it? Yes we can!"...

Baby Girl Coming Soon...

Due Date = 14 days from TODAY!

I had another doctor appointment yesterday. Last Wednesday (week and a half ago) I was 1 cm with softened cervix. Yesterday I was 3 cm and 70% effaced... Could be any minute, or could still be weeks away...

Thinking back at the last time I was at a 3cm. It was 1:30am (ish) on October 11th, 2008 and labor started over 7 hours earlier! I had been having contractions 4 or 5 minutes apart. Such contractions that I would get sick in between them. I went to the hospital and thought I was on my way to have Brayden any minute. To my surprise, the nurse said, "Oh hun your only at 3cm, you can go home and come back when you are farther along." Ha! And I said, "No! This hurts too bad! This baby is coming and I am staying..."

Hmmm... Now I am at 3 cm, no "real" contractions, cleaning house with Brett & Brayden and just wondering, "could today be the day? or could she be late?". Somewhat encouraged by the idea that my body is doing all this "prep work" without any painful contractions, maybe this time will go much faster. Time will tell! Meanwhile, Brett has been in a constant state of slight panic, assuming that I am in always in the state of early labor. :) One of many conversations over the last 24 hours:

I say: "Oh man, it's really warm in here all of the sudden..."
Brett says: "No, it's not"
I say: "Probably just a hot flash" (normal pregnancy symptom)
Brett says: "That happens when your in labor right?!?! Are you in labor?"
I say: "Nope, not in labor, just warm"
Brett: "Are you sure? How do you know that your not in labor?" as he turns to google to search "is a hot flash a sign of labor?"... Then asks me a few more times if I am SURE I am not in labor. It's cute. :)

I have PROMISED him that we will know when the baby is coming. :)

In the meantime, we are cleaning and packing to go to Dad & Mom's for the week! Renting our home during a golf tournament at Chamber's Bay. We are both hoping she can wait at least another week, so we are home. But either way it will all work out and Brett & I are just giddy over the idea that we get to meet her soon!

Baby Girl Quick Update from SunRiver

We are LOVING our time here in SunRiver with the family! It's something we look forward to every year!

Before we left for our trip, we had our 36 week ultrasound (last Wednesday). She measured 7lbs & 3oz (they can be off by 15%). On average, she should gain two more pounds by the time she hits her due date. That means our ultrasound tech is guessing we will have anywhere from a just over 8lb baby to a just over 10lb baby. Time will tell! Her head measured in the 80th percentile, she looked healthy and fluid was measuring perfect! (With Brayden my fluid was low and the doctor was concerned). I am dilated to 1cm, she's getting ready but still could be a while...

During the ultrasound we got a really cool 3D picture. She has her arm by her face in the picture. After this picture she spent most of her time grabbing her feet and toes.

More updates to come when we get back! We are enjoying beautiful weather and lots of family time at the pool. The guys have been playing lots of golf and games, going for bike rides and to the movies. All of us girls have had some nice shopping, out to lunch, coffee and even pedicures!

Thankful (so far) that we haven't had to run to the hospital in Bend to have our baby girl. Coming home tomorrow for a quick turn around of unpacking, laundry, cleaning and a full weekend. Then packing up and renting our house from Sunday - Friday to some people coming to town for the golf tournament at Chamber Bay! Brett & I are looking forward to having "built in babysitters" at B-Bo & Mammy's during what we call "our last week of freedom" before we settle in for the fall season at home with our newborn baby girl. :)

Then and Now...

A little over a week ago Mom, Brayden and I went up to Seattle to meet up with Julie. We met and had lunch at U Village. As we were walking to get our afternoon coffee, we remembered that we had come up here when I was pregnant with Brayden too! So we decided to take a picture in the same spot as we had done before. Looking back at the blog we realized it was EXACTLY two years before, give or take a day or two!

First picture was special because Julie was showing off her new engagement ring and I was showing off my growing belly. Here we are again, Julie is a cute newlywed and I look just about the same (about a month further along with this one), but have a fun, little busy boy too!

We decided we need to go every summer and take a picture in our spot... Mom says that she'll need back up to be able to take a picture and make sure toddlers don't run away. :)

An overdue collection of updates... A few highlights from July!

Wow! July has been busy! Below are a few of the fun things that we have done...

Celebrating 4th of July!

Our busy busy boy! Who often shouts "Ready, Set, GO GO GO!".

Well, I spent most of the day literally chasing a very wound up Bray all over the house and yard. We had one small break where we snuggled in Dad & Mom's room and watched a show. I took a nap and Bray just snuggled and rested. All day I kept thinking, well at least he will wear himself out so that he will cuddle with me during fireworks. As soon as the fireworks started we went outside with a cozy blanket. Immediately, this little restless boy was desperate for no one else but his "B-Bo". I tried to get him to sit still and assumed this desperation was only because B-Bo had fireworks. Well after off and on yelling for "B-Bo", Brayden finally got his attention. B-Bo sat down and Bray snuggled in and crashed in his arms... :)

Luckily there was still another boy {Brett} who preferred cuddling with me over B-Bo...

Mid-July we went on our annual camping trip with friends. This year we decided to not bring kids. Having kids is so much fun, but we opted for a fun & relaxing trip and that is exactly what we got! We went for 5 days with the Allans & Huffs. The Washburns came for a couple nights too! Lots of games, some bon fires, napping, chatting, a little boat time = perfect vacation!

Yes, we brought our latte machine! One of the perks of being able to borrow Dad & Mom's RV.

When we got back from camping we moved Brayden's crib and furniture out of his room and moved a full bed and new dresser into his room. It's been over a month and a half and he has had some nights when he has done really well and some nights not so much... But we are surviving!

Enjoying our zoo pass! Last minute trip to the zoo after church.

When Brayden went to B-Bo & Mammy's during our camping trip he was spoiled with bubbles. Needless to say, when we got back we had many requests for "Bubbles Please!". After standing and blowing bubbles over and over, I decided to invest in a bubble machine...

We have had some fun playdates! Below is a pictures from when Brayden invited all his MOPS friends over.

Major Highlight for Brayden this month. We can be in the house, doing chores & playing, and if an airplane goes overhead Bray will exclaim, "Airplane! Airplane!". So Brett and I thought it was time he found out that his Papa has an airplane. Papa flies every Saturday morning with a group of friends to Hoquiam. A couple Saturday's ago, we drove out to the airport to meet Papa and tour his plane. Bray was SO excited to see each and every plane and was overly impressed with Papa's plane! What a fun Saturday!

To add to Brayden's exciting day, Papa let him pretend to drive his convertible!

Who needs a nanny when you have a hose on the mist setting. This was good entertainment for hours! Brett and I just sat in the sun in our lawn chairs and watched him.

Lovin' the "occasional" warm weather!

Below is a picture of Bray wearing some new jeans. Right about here we had a conversation about how I might have jumped the gun on size 2T... :)

Peaking at our Baby Girl...

Here are a few pictures from our latest little girl "viewing"... First time big brother saw her! Grammy came along to lend a hand with Brayden. He normally doesn't come to the my doctor appointments, but we thought this would be a fun one to bring him to. Just as we thought, he spent about a minute looking at sister and then another minute talking about the fish mobile (you can see in the upper left corner of the picture) and then he was ready to run again! Thanks for the help "Mammy"!

Profile Picture

3D picture of her arm and hand. No good face pictures. Her face was blocked by my pelvic bone and we did quite a wiggling, but no luck with getting her to move her head.

Baby Girl Update

So as of yesterday our Dr. had concerns about the baby size. My belly was measuring, and has been measuring, two weeks behind schedule. For example, at my 32 week appointment, my belly was measuring the average size of 30 week belly. With Brayden, I also measured small, but still had a good size healthy baby. My doctor was thinking, all is PROBABLY okay and I am just carrying our girl similar to Brayden, but wanted to lean towards the side of being safe rather than sorry. One concern was that I was measuring small because the baby is small, possibly not getting enough nutrients, etc.

We had our ultrasound today and all is looking perfect! There is an "apgar" test that they do for babies before they are born, based on various things such as amount of fluid, movement, size, etc. Our little girl scored 8 out of 8! Size is no longer a concern as she measured to be about 5 lbs & 4 oz. and over 18 inches long! This size is comparable to the size of an average baby that is 36 weeks along (we are just 32 weeks along). Got some cute pictures that I will post soon! :)
