Pink or Blue?

Brett and I have always loved the idea of finding out if we are having a boy or girl in a unique way! For us it makes a simple informative visit more of an "event".

With Brayden I had scrap booked two pieces of paper, one said "Boy" and one said "Girl". My sister and mom came along to the appointment to see little Brayden on the ultrasound monitor. The nurse then told Julie, as we were leaving, the gender. Then Julie put stars all over the scrap booked paper that was correct.

This time around we are doing something similar! Except for, instead of paper, we have tinylittle newborn shoes! Brett, Brayden and I all have pairs of converse shoes, so we thought it was fitting that we would get the new addition a pair of his/her own too. Julie took the shoes and is wrapped both pairs. She'll bring them to the ultrasound (TOMORROW!) and give us whatever ones will be on our baby's feet this fall!

What a weekend...

We had this weekend all planned out, fun activities with friends, day and night. This way we didn't sit home and wonder, "boy or girl?"...

Friday morning started out unexpectedly early. At 4pm, I woke up not feeling well. After a few minutes of being up, I passed out and fell face first to wake up to a bleeding nose, not knowing what happened. At 8am, when we called my doctor she ordered me straight to the ER. Within minutes Grammy was here and Brett and I were off! They ruled out any "unusual" complications and said it was due to extremely low blood pressure (which I have been dealing with for the past month), low potassium, low iron and possible heart murmur (cardiologist appointment tomorrow). Overall, it was nothing that is not a "common pregnancy symptom", the symptoms just happened to be a little more extreme. Needless to say, we cancelled our plans that night and rested.

Saturday was a much better! We woke up, had a fabulous breakfast (bacon, eggs, waffles...). Got ready and had a fun day at the zoo with our friends! Then took a nap and woke up to go to dinner at our other friends home, while Brayden played at Grammy & Bebo's! We picked up Brayden later that night, he was very upbeat and was not ready to leave and go home.

Sunday we woke up for another fun-filled day (plans w/ friends for lunch & the fair in the afternoon). However, I volunteered in the nursery at church that morning and pretty much spent the whole service rocking Bray in the rocking chair. He did not want to let go of my neck. Brett came to get us after the service and Brayden finally released from my neck, ran to his arms exclaiming, "Dada!" and smiling. Right outside of the nursery, Brayden's breakfast was all over the church carpet and Brett. First time our little guy had ever thrown up... :( Plans cancelled again, and we were home to rest. His temperature was 101 and he was pretty snuggly all day, with small spurts of playfulness. Ending the day, his temp is down to 100 and he is tolerating food much better.

Brett has been amazing all weekend, taking care of my on Friday and then helping to take care of Brayden today. Even above and beyond with a little laundry, some vacuuming, cleaning, etc.! Here are some pictures from our one day (Saturday) that we were able to enjoy the weekend!

Don't touch my Mom!

Funny story today. I took Brayden to my chiropractor appointment. He had a blast playing in the waiting room. They have a whole section for kids with tons of toys. We got into the waiting room and when the doctor came in and I laid on the table, Brayden's attitude changed. He went from playing and eating crackers to a hysterical panic! Poor little guy didn't really understand what was going on and why the "stranger" was touching his mom. Tears were flowing and towards the end while I had to lay on my back, they let him lay on me (while they checked my shoulders) and he squeezed me so tight and the tears didn't stop till the check-up was done! It was terribly sad and terribly cute at the same time... I've enjoyed the extra long hugs and squeezes today. :)

In the picture below Brayden is picking up some moss/leaf thing. It caught his eye and he exclaimed, "Oh pretty!", which is normally what he says when we see flowers. :)

Then my sweet boy wanted to give his mama the "pretty" moss/leaf thing.

The thought was really cute, so of course, I accepted!

18 Months!

Yesterday Brayden turned 18 months old!

He is such a fun and silly guy now.

• Say "Hi!" to everyone he sees in public {Most of the time a wave goes along with it}
• Rocking in the chair in his room before nap time and bedtime. {I LOVE this snuggle time too, he is so sweet and will always cuddle right in and give lots of kisses}
• Stirring things in a bowl with a spoon, trying to do the laundry {Pretending to do what I am doing}
• Play with ice cubes {Weird, I know, but he is in a mad dash for the freezer drawer everytime I open it, in hopes of grabbing a few...}
• Practicing drinking out of a real cup, like Dada and Mama.
• Swim Lessons
• Playing hide and seek or chase
• So much more, I could list over 100 things...

Yesterday we had a nice relaxing day at home, after a busy few weeks! Church in the morning, and then Brayden caught up on his sleep with a long nap. When he woke up we went down to Chambers Bay to walk the loop. Brayden saw his first train up close! He was so surprised! There was lots of laughing and him saying, "Whoa!". Then intense concentration on this VERY LONG and FAST "car" that we were calling a train!

So many Uncles!

Last weekend Brett had a poker night at our house with some of his friends. We had some of the guys that were family over for dinner beforehand. It was pretty cute to see Brayden with almost all his Uncles!

Easter!

We had such a fun Easter! It's always fun when my little brother Greg gets to come back from California to visit. After church we drove up to Jacob & Julie's for lunch and an Easter Egg Coloring Competition. I think we all tied, but Dad announced himself as the winner. It's hard when the judges were mom and Bray and they raised their hand for everyone!

Then we went over to our cousin's, Kevin & Denise, for Easter Dinner and the HUNT! The easter egg hunt is pretty intense because the youngest participant is in grade school, and also because every year there are lotto tickets hidden EVERYWHERE! One year, someone will strike it big. As the hunt started I took Bray out there. He was content to find one egg and call it a "ball" and want to play toss back and forth. Didn't understand why we would just take all the "balls" and put them in a basket. That was no fun! :)

New Golf Set! He has pretty much had a golf club in his hand at home now ever since opening this gift. Yesterday, Brett was watching the Master's and Brayden was content to sit and watch it with him for a few minutes... Maybe another golfer in the family? Look out Michael! :)

Brayden enjoyed seeing his Grandpa Donn on Easter! They hadn't spent time together since last July! Our holiday schedules never work out (Thanksgiving we are with Overfield's and Christimas Eve, they go with Grandma Geri's family). Grandpa Donn was "re-introducing" himself to Brayden, but Brayden was pretty contest to just sit with Grandma Geri. He was quite fond of her. Throughout dinner he would turn all the way around in his highchair, look at her and say "HI!" and wave his hands. When he got her attention, Brayden would blow her kisses! It was so cute! He is in love with Grandma Geri. :)

We don't see the Bodine's very often being that they all are north of Seattle, so whenever there is a holiday, there is also a birthday celebration too! So we sang, "Happy Birthday Dear Julie, Geri, Erik, Donn, Al, Alicia, Greg & Denise, Happy Birthday to you!" {I may have forgotten or added some birthdays in there, just went by what I saw in the picture...}

By the end of the day we had a very happy and tired little guy. Only a 15 minute nap (between the Washburns and the Bodine's) and all that excitement can wear a little one out. He slept very well that night. :)
